Virgin Voyages includes all dining at 20+ on-board restaurants, basic Wi-Fi powered by Starlink, group fitness classes, and the full entertainment lineup — at no extra charge. Unlike traditional cruise lines, there are no hidden fees for standard dining or basic connectivity.
Every restaurant on a Virgin Voyages ship is included in your fare — Korean BBQ, Mexican, Mediterranean, a steakhouse, and more. On traditional cruise lines, specialty dining can add $30–$80 per meal per person. On Virgin Voyages, you eat wherever you want, whenever you want, at no additional cost.
Basic Wi-Fi is included on every sailing, powered by Starlink satellite internet. It's fast enough for browsing, social media, email, and messaging. On most traditional cruise lines, any Wi-Fi access costs $15–$20+ per day.
Gratuities are no longer included in the Virgin Voyages fare. A daily crew appreciation charge is now applied. However, you can save by prepaying: gratuities cost $20 per person per day if prepaid before your sailing, versus $22 per person per day if charged on board. On a 7-night sailing for two, that's a $28 saving just by prepaying. A major bonus: unlike other cruise lines that add 18–20% gratuity to every drink purchase, Virgin Voyages does not add automatic gratuities to drinks — your prepaid crew appreciation covers it. Ask Sean to add prepaid gratuities when booking.
Group fitness classes (including outdoor workout sessions and yoga), the full live entertainment program, and access to the ship's athletic club are included. The entertainment lineup features live music, themed events, DJs, and performances throughout the ship.
Virgin Voyages offers three fare tiers — Base, Essential, and Premium — plus Suite fares. Your fare tier determines when you can reserve dining and what Wi-Fi level you get. Here's the breakdown:
| Feature | Base | Essential | Premium | Suites |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cabin selection | Auto-assigned (GTY — guarantee) | Choose and change your cabin | Choose and change your cabin | Choose and change your cabin |
| Dining reservation window | 15 days before sailing | 45 days | 60 days | 120 days |
| Wi-Fi tier | Basic | Classic | Premium | Premium |
| Bar Tab included | No | No | Yes | Yes |
| Cancellation flexibility | Non-refundable | More flexible | Most flexible | Most flexible |
Insider tip from Sean: If getting the best dinner reservations is a priority, Premium or Suite fares often pay for themselves compared to buying Wi-Fi upgrades and Bar Tab separately. Ask Sean to run the numbers for your specific sailing.
To be transparent: Virgin Voyages is not fully all-inclusive. The following carry additional charges:
Promotional packages and Agent Loot perks may offset some of these costs. Ask Sean about current promotions.
The Beach Club at Bimini — Virgin Voyages' private beach destination in the Bahamas — is accessible on select Caribbean sailings that include Bimini in the itinerary. On those sailings, general access to the Beach Club is included: beach, pool, DJ entertainment, and the signature Beach Club atmosphere. Some premium experiences, cabanas, and certain food or beverage options may carry additional charges. Not all sailings visit Bimini — confirm your itinerary if the Beach Club is a priority.
What Canadians Should Know: When comparing cruise fares, add up what traditional lines charge for specialty dining and Wi-Fi. On a 7-night sailing for two, those extras can add $300–$500+ on top of the advertised fare. On Virgin Voyages, dining and basic Wi-Fi are already included — though gratuities are now an additional charge.
Virgin Voyages is not a traditional cruise line, and it's not trying to be. Here's how it compares on the dimensions that matter most to Canadian travellers.

Royal Caribbean and Virgin Voyages serve fundamentally different audiences. Royal Caribbean is family-oriented, with massive ships featuring waterslides, kids' clubs, rock climbing walls, and Broadway-style shows. Virgin Voyages is adults-only with a contemporary, design-forward aesthetic. If you're a Canadian couple or adult group who wants a child-free experience with all dining included, Virgin Voyages is likely the better fit. If you're travelling with family or want the biggest possible ship with the most on-board activities, Royal Caribbean may be more appropriate. Both are strong products — they're just designed for different travellers.
Celebrity Cruises is the closest mainstream competitor to Virgin Voyages in terms of positioning. Both target a premium-contemporary audience with modern ships. Key differences: Virgin Voyages is adults-only (Celebrity is not), Virgin Voyages includes all dining (Celebrity charges for most specialty restaurants), and Virgin Voyages has a more casual, festival-influenced atmosphere (Celebrity leans more classic-premium). For Canadian travellers choosing between the two, the adults-only policy and all-dining inclusion model are typically the deciding factors.
What Canadians Should Know: When comparing fares, don't compare base prices alone. Add Wi-Fi ($15–$20/day) and specialty dining ($30–$80/meal) to a traditional line's fare. The total cost is often comparable to or higher than a Virgin Voyages fare where those items are already included.

Flight times, logistics, and pre-cruise tips for your departure city.
Canadians have three great Virgin Voyages regions to choose from: Caribbean sailings from Miami, Mediterranean sailings from multiple European ports, and — new for West Coast Canadians — Alaska sailings from Vancouver and Seattle.
Caribbean itineraries are the most popular Virgin Voyages option for Canadian travellers. Direct flights from Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, and Calgary to Miami make this the easiest logistical option. Sailing lengths range from short 4–5 night getaways to longer 7+ night voyages. Select Caribbean sailings include a stop at Bimini for the Beach Club experience. For Canadians looking for a winter escape, Caribbean sailings running from November through April are especially popular.
Virgin Voyages' Mediterranean itineraries depart from several European ports including Barcelona, Athens (Piraeus), Lisbon, and others depending on the season and ship deployment. These sailings typically run during summer months and are longer than Caribbean options, visiting ports across Southern Europe and beyond. Direct seasonal flights from Toronto and Montreal to Barcelona are available during peak season, with one-stop options to all European departure ports year-round. Mediterranean sailings appeal to Canadians who want to combine a cruise with time exploring European cities.
Brilliant Lady is now sailing Alaska itineraries from Vancouver and Seattle — this is a major development for Canadian travellers. For British Columbians, this means a Virgin Voyages cruise that starts right from home with no flights required. For Alberta and other Western Canadian travellers, it's a short hop to Vancouver or Seattle. Alaska sailings bring the Virgin Voyages adults-only experience to one of the world's most stunning cruise destinations, with glaciers, wildlife, and dramatic coastal scenery.
Caribbean sailings from Miami. Popular winter escape for Canadians. Direct flights available from most major Canadian cities.
Mediterranean sailings from European ports and Alaska sailings from Vancouver/Seattle. Peak season for both regions.
Virgin Voyages is now booking into 2028. Booking early generally provides better cabin selection and pricing. Alaska sailings are expected to be especially popular — book early.
What Canadians Should Know: Caribbean sailings from Miami involve a 3–4 hour direct flight from Toronto — shorter than many domestic Canadian flights. Mediterranean sailings require a transatlantic flight, so budget an extra day or two on either end. Alaska sailings from Vancouver require no flight at all for BC residents — a first for Virgin Voyages in Canada.
Yes. The adults-only environment, 20+ included dining venues, spa, and signature events like Scarlet Night make Virgin Voyages one of the most popular cruise choices for couples — including honeymoons, anniversaries, and romantic getaways.
The 18+ policy means no kids in the pool area, no children running through restaurants, and no family-oriented entertainment competing for space. The atmosphere is relaxed, social, and adult. For couples, this translates to a more intimate, premium feel throughout the ship.
With 20+ included restaurants, couples can have a different dining experience every night without worrying about extra charges. From intimate steakhouse dinners to shared Korean BBQ, the variety means dining becomes part of the entertainment. Quick-service spots are walk-up, and main dining rooms are reservable through the app — your Voyage Fare choice affects how early you can book the best times.
Full-service spa with couples treatments available
The signature themed event — festive, energetic, and memorable
Outdoor lounge with cocktails and ocean views
Live music, DJ sets, and performances nightly
Virgin Voyages offers a Splash of Romance package designed specifically for couples celebrating honeymoons, anniversaries, or just a romantic escape. Ask Sean about what's included and availability for your sailing — he can help you decide if it's the right add-on for your trip.
If you've never sailed Virgin Voyages — or never cruised at all — here's what to expect. Virgin Voyages is deliberately designed to feel different from traditional cruise lines. No buffet lines, no formal nights, no kids, and no rigid schedules.
You'll complete health screening and check-in through the Virgin Voyages Sailor App before arriving at the terminal. At PortMiami (Terminal V), the embarkation process is designed to be fast — typically 30-45 minutes from door to deck. Your cabin is usually ready by 3:00-4:00 PM.
No formal nights. No suit jackets required. The vibe is casual to smart-casual throughout the ship. For Scarlet Night, red is encouraged but not required. Pack light — you won't need formal wear.
Unlike traditional cruise lines with fixed dining times and assigned tables, Virgin Voyages uses an open reservation system through the Sailor App. Book where you want, when you want. All 20+ restaurants are included in your fare.
Having helped hundreds of Canadians book their first Virgin Voyages sailing, these are the mistakes I see most often:
This is exactly why working with a specialist matters. Sean walks every first-time client through these details so nothing is missed.
Whether it's a destination wedding, a milestone birthday, a corporate retreat, a church group, a sports team trip, or just a big group of friends — Virgin Voyages' adults-only ships are an incredible group venue. And booking through Sean unlocks group rates that can bring the price well below what's available online.
Destination weddings, honeymoon groups, milestone birthdays, and anniversary celebrations. The adults-only atmosphere means your event won't compete with kids' pool parties. Scarlet Night alone makes for an unforgettable group experience.
Incentive trips, team-building retreats, and corporate events. The included dining at 20+ restaurants means no awkward "who's paying for dinner" moments. The ship is your venue, entertainment, and accommodation in one.
Fellowship trips and community getaways. The flexible schedule means your group can organize activities together or give everyone freedom to explore on their own. Sean handles all the logistics so your organizer doesn't have to.
End-of-season trips, alumni getaways, or league celebrations. The included fitness facilities, group activities, and social atmosphere are perfect for active groups. Group rates make it surprisingly affordable per person.
Reunion trips, birthday groups, or just a big crew who wants to sail together. With 20+ included restaurants, your group can split up for dinner and meet at the bar — or all eat together without a fixed table assignment.
Hobby groups, professional associations, or any organized group looking for a unique experience. Sean can coordinate cabin blocks, group dining, and any special arrangements your group needs.
Access to discounted group pricing — up to 10% off on select sailings when booking 16+ cabins. These rates aren't available online.
When you book through a First Mate, Agent Loot perks — such as bonus onboard credit — may be available depending on the sailing. Availability is capacity-controlled and varies.
Sean handles all the bookings, cabin assignments, special requests, and logistics. Your group organizer doesn't need to become a travel agent.
Group members can pay individually. Sean coordinates the booking but each person handles their own payment — in Canadian dollars.
Not building your own group? Sean has open group sailings with cabins available at group rates. Join an existing sailing and save — no need to organize 16 cabins yourself.
Browse Open Group SailingsWhat Canadians Should Know: Group bookings through Sean include Canadian dollar billing, group rates that can be significantly below online pricing, and Agent Loot perks for every member. Whether you're organizing 8 friends or 80 colleagues, Sean has the experience to make it seamless.
